Tomorrow marks the start of the 29th Museum Connections fair in Paris. Over 5,000 representatives from the cultural sector are expected to attend. For BLUERAY, this is our first time participating in the event. To be honest, we hadn’t even heard of this fair, which brings together professionals from our field, before now.

Our invitation to participate came from the IAAPA Expo in Amsterdam, where we were told that we fit perfectly into the list of exhibitors. The fair focuses on three main themes: museum life, museum shop, and museum technology.

Soon, we’ll find out just how open the French are to innovation.

This year’s motto for the fair is: “Let’s inspire tomorrow’s culture and tourism experience.” We love this idea, and that’s exactly what we aim to do at the event. Wish us luck!

The most significant achievements of this year include five exhibitions, three IT developments, and one virtual reality development project – the latter is especially important to us because it fulfilled a long-held dream of ours and our visitors – to move around in the virtual Oru Palace. The third part of our virtual time travel experience, “VR Toila 1938,” with the subtitle “The Inner Beauty of Oru Palace,” also earned us the title of “Best National Memory Awakener” at the Ida-Viru 2025 Best New Adventure competition.

Awards were also given to our partners, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for more in February.

We are happy to have contributed to the preservation of an important Estonian bridge (#Sindi-Lodja bridge).

To be honest, the Estonian market is becoming too small for us, which is why we participated in several international fairs this year. At the #AWE2024 fair, we had the opportunity to be among 15 companies introduced to journalists. It was a first-time and exciting experience. As experienced trade show experts advised us, consistency is important in old Europe. In January, we’ll participate in another international fair in Paris.

We are especially delighted with the thousands of satisfied VR time travel visitors, with the farthest ones coming from Australia, Mexico, and Brazil. The most important feedback of the year came from a VR guru who visited the realiti.express conference in Tallinn. He summed up our time travel experience, “This is the most meaningful VR application I have encountered in the world!”

About the role
As we’re taking on a new adventure, we’re looking for a 3D generalist to navigate us in the sea of undiscovered lands, storytelling VR-apps and so much more. We hope to find someone, who likes the opportunity to work with out of the box ideas in different areas (e.g., XR games, solutions for museums, etc.).
Work can be done from seven lands and seas, but it starts ASAP.

What you’ll be doing
Creating history related 3D assets while working within the new Unreal 5 Engine’s constraints.
As an expert in your field, you’ll strike a balance between quality and efficiency to get the greatest possible results in creating photorealistic views of the past within the restrictions of time and technology.

You’ll work alongside with the Creative Director, Lead Developer, Graphic Designer, and other 3D Generalists.

About you
1+ years of experience as a 3D generalist, or another 3D artist role responsible for creating VR-ready assets and worlds.
High quality portfolio demonstrating mech, 3D modelling and texturing.
Expert Modelling and UV skills in Blender.
Experience working with the game engine Unreal Engine 5.
Ability to translate concept, reference photos, artwork and etc into authentic 3D assets.
A team player, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
You share our love for XR, especially the visualization of history.
It’s a bonus if you have some of the following magic in your arsenal of experience: Unity, Houdini 19.5, BIM, AutoCAD, 3D laser scanning.
