The BLUERAY team operates in two directions. Seven of us work behind the scenes on new developments, while a five-member team organises virtual reality time travels and interacts with visitors. This year, we also offered a real life experience to seven wonderful interns. Both sides of our team work in pleasant harmony, all in order for the creative team to understand what our visitors expect from us and what truly matters to them.

The most significant achievements of this year include five exhibitions, three IT developments, and one virtual reality development project – the latter is especially important to us because it fulfilled a long-held dream of ours and our visitors – to move around in the virtual Oru Palace. The third part of our virtual time travel experience, “VR Toila 1938,” with the subtitle “The Inner Beauty of Oru Palace,” also earned us the title of “Best National Memory Awakener” at the Ida-Viru 2025 Best New Adventure competition.

Awards were also given to our partners, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for more in February.

We are happy to have contributed to the preservation of an important Estonian bridge (#Sindi-Lodja bridge).

To be honest, the Estonian market is becoming too small for us, which is why we participated in several international fairs this year. At the #AWE2024 fair, we had the opportunity to be among 15 companies introduced to journalists. It was a first-time and exciting experience. As experienced trade show experts advised us, consistency is important in old Europe. In January, we’ll participate in another international fair in Paris.

We are especially delighted with the thousands of satisfied VR time travel visitors, with the farthest ones coming from Australia, Mexico, and Brazil. The most important feedback of the year came from a VR guru who visited the realiti.express conference in Tallinn. He summed up our time travel experience, “This is the most meaningful VR application I have encountered in the world!”

Thank you for being with us. Have a wonderful New Year’s Eve and a joyful New Year!

The world is full of stories of magnificent castles and golden cities that are now gone forever. You can read about world wonders and ground-breaking events in books or watch movies, but can you really be present in history?

Now you can travel 200 million years back in time without even getting up from your couch. Just put on your VR-glasses and let us fly you from dinosaurs to Toila in 1938.

On the way you will pass by Dubai (~200 million years ago), Giza Pyramid (Egypt ~4500 years ago), Colosseum Amphitheater (Rome ~1800 years ago), Kukulkan Pyramid (Mexico ~1000 years ago) and Fort de Vaux battlefield (WWI in France 106 years ago) and you reach Oru Park in Toila (Estonia 84 years ago).

But if you want a really active weekend, step outside and head to Ida-Virumaa, Toila Oru park and experience the impact of time on the environment firsthand.

Among the places highlighted are those that are suitable for families with children as well as groups of friends, those interested in culture and history, and those who enjoy nature. There are accommodation establishments and eateries located near all destinations. The tour takes you to places where you can also see the former industry. Just as there is a choice of different accommodation and nice restaurants in the immediate vicinity of all places, you will also find them nearby Oru Park. We also introduced them in more detail in our blog post Destination Toila – what to do and see there?

Everyone will find something to explore here!

The world is full of stories about magnificent castles that have been lost forever. You can read about world wonders and revolutionary events in books or look at pictures, but can you be present in history yourself?

We invite you to our new journey of time hole “VR Toila 1938” – “In the Footsteps of Lost Glory”. Based on the feedback received from the visitors of “VR Toila 1938”, it was highly desired to see other interiors of the Oru palace in addition to the dining hall. So we decided to do the main hall, which was the palace’s representative room during the time of both Yelisseev and Päts. In the course of almost a year of work, we have gathered the preserved knowledge about the large hall piece by piece.

The large hall was very detailed, the environment was characterized by an extremely rich decor, which was illustrated by Vladimir Makovsky’s ceiling mural. Makovsky, who has been called the master of capturing the moment, is not as well known to Estonians as to the Russian audience, but in his case a parallel is often drawn with Ilja Repin, a representative of critical realism that is more familiar to Estonians. From 1882 to 1894, Makovsky taught at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. During these years he made several sketches for the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, painting icons for Bork’s Church and Chapel. There were also Bible subjects on the ceiling of Toila Oru Palace.

As the historical experience we offer is colourful, we did a lot of work on it. We have gathered information about the big hall piece by piece. We have studied the use of colour by Makovsky, worked through peoples memories of the great hall from the late 1930s, and so on. All so that the result corresponds as accurately as possible. In any case, the result is worth watching and experiencing.

So, let’s bring this palace’s great hall back to life with its extremely rich decor! In front of you are the views of the great hall of the summer residence of the Head of State, which is illustrated by massive chandeliers with blue-purple crystals and the ceiling mural of the artist Vladimir Makovsky. It is a journey through time that makes you feel like everything is happening here and now.

Opening on July 16, 2021.
